Relieves aches and pains Star anise has pain-relieving properties that provide localized relief from muscular aches and pains, and help to ease rheumatism and arthritis
Acts as an antiseptic The essential oil has a strong antibacterial action. It also has potent antifungal properties that can help heal skin infections such as athlete’s foot, and it can be used to treat head lice and mites.
Acts as a deodorant Star anise is often added to soaps to combat body odor, and the oil makes a natural breath freshener
Tones skin Its skin-balancing properties are useful for calming oily and combination skin.
Promotes restful sleep The oil has a sedative action that helps to calm, slowing the heart rate and aiding sleep, making it especially useful for anxiety-related sleep problems.
Best Uses:
In an inhalation Add a few drops of star anise oil to a steam inhalation to provide temporary relief from bronchitis, cold, and flu symptoms.
In a mouthwash Add 1–2 drops to a teaspoon of glycerin or calendula tincture. Add to a glass of water and rinse in the mouth to fight the germs that cause bad breath. Do not swallow.
Safe usage Use well diluted (less than 1 percent). Avoid during pregnancy and if breast-feeding. Not suitable for children under seven years old.
